Meet the Dance Teachers

Tinamarie Carlow (Dance Director/Educator /Choreographer) Originally from Queens, New York, she is a Graduate of Talent Unlimited H.S of the Arts, where she was a member of their Touring Company for four years. She then went on to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance from Adelphi University in Garden City, NY. After graduating, Mrs. Carlow performed for Walt Disney World Entertainment for eight years and was one of their Seasonal Staging Specialists for Parades and Shows. Tinamarie has performed for the United Nations in NYC, National Commercials, MTV TV Pilot Show and Hard Rock Live, just to name a few. She was an adjudicator for New York Festival of Dance and was a teacher at Macy’s “Tap O Mania” in NYC. Mrs. Carlow has taught dance for a total of 22 years that includes dance studios in New York and Florida. She was the choreographer for DSA’s productions of “The Wizard of Oz”, “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown”, “Oliver” and “Peter Pan” and “The Little Mermaid”.  This is her 11th year at DSA where she instructs all levels in Modern, Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz and also owns a home based business as a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant teaching skin care and color cosmetics. Mrs. Carlow has a loving husband and beautiful 2 year old twins!!

Myriah Jost (Dance Co-Director/Educator/Choreographer/Facilitator for Polk County All County Dance Festival 2014) Myriah began her dance training at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts, Franklin, Mass.  She continued her dance education at Adelphi University, New York earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance.  She taught in Massachusetts for 10 years at several dance studios. She has worked with children and adults of all ages at the recreational and professional levels.  Some of her students have gone on to major in dance at respected universities. She has also danced professionally with Moving West Repertory Theater in Framingham, Mass.  This is her eighth year teaching dance grades K-8 at Davenport School of the Arts and 18th year teaching dance.  This will be her fourth year as the Facilitator for Polk’s All County Dance Festival and Gala.  Her choreography has been showcased at local festivals, Celebration’s “Now Snowing”, Gaylord Palms Resort, Festival of Trees at Orlando Museum of Art, and Hawthorne Inn.  Her choreography has been showcased in DSA’s musical theatre productions of “Schoolhouse Rock Jr.”, “Annie”, and her favorite Disney story “Cinderella.”  She has continued her dance education through Florida Dance Education Organization workshops and seminars. To the loves of my life, Aaron, Sam, Maddy and Jilly…you are my life and joy! 

Mrs. Jessica Granger Harvie is a licensed, certified educator of Dance, Yoga, and Physical Education. She also holds a BA in French and has 22 years of experience as a Dance professional. She began her dance training at age 2 and has had extensive training in numerous genres of Dance. She continues to works with students 2 years and older; and has also trained professional level dancers who have gone on to careers in the Dance profession. While living in Louisiana, Jessica owned and operated her own dance studio, Studio 48, School of Fine Arts, Dance Academy, for seven years. She has also had the pleasure of founding the dance programs and serving as Director of Dance at both Davenport School of the Arts and Ridge Community High School during her 15 years with Polk County Schools. She has also been the founding artistic director and choreographer for three dance companies: DANCE, INC; The Davenport Dancers; and, Electric Motion Dance Company. Jessica also established, founded, and facilitated the All-County Dance Festival and Gala Events for Polk County Schools, and has been a part of three teams who have received The Kennedy Center Awards for excellence in the arts. In addition, Jessica is the former treasurer for The Florida Dance Education Organization, has served as a state leader as a writer for the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards in Dance, and piloted the first ever End of Course Exam in Dance within the State of Florida. Currently, Jessica is working on her Masters' Degrees in Academic and Arts Interdisciplinary Education and Educational Leadership, and is writing a dance book which she aspires to publish one day. Jessica is delighted to return to DSA and is a firm believer in dreams coming true because she sees evidence of it every day in her family, friends, and students. Above all else, Jessica is most thankful for the blessed life she leads with her husband, Mike, and daughter, Madison. "Faith, Family, Future…"
