About Me:

I am Elizabeth Colon. I am in the 7th grade and I’m taking a digital art and design elective this year. I’ve learned this year how to use Flash Animation Program. My favorite project isn’t necessarily a project but I really loved the mandala. I am Puerto Rican, Russian, and American. My mom is Russian, my dad is Puerto Rican, and I’m American. Honestly, I look nothing like my parents or family. I have a cat named Mocha. She gets her name from her fur color. She is a Siamese- Tabby mix. In basic words she is a mixed breed cat. I love her very much. My two main hobbies are to sing and draw because it fulfills my passion. I’m in this class because I wanted to try something new. My major is photography. I’ve been to three different schools before I came here. I’ve been to a school in St. Cloud, I’ve been to Loughman Oaks, and I went to Four Corners Charter School. I am recently now going to Davenport School of the Arts. I have been waiting more than six years to get into this school. I got accepted in the middle of my fifth grade year. I enjoy going to DSA because I have wonderful teachers and I get to do my hobbies. I get to sing beautiful songs in Choir and I get to draw on the computers in Photography and Digital Art and Design. I love my school.

Mandala:

My mandala was my favorite project because I love how it looks metallic from an angle and it stands out with the black background. I did two different types of layers with one of them as rainbow and the other one is blue and purplish. It's metallic because it shines in certain spots like a sea shell. This is an example of texture, color, and shape. I say that my mandala belongs in these categories because there is circles, colors, and it look metallic.

My Pattern:

I think my pattern belongs in the color, line, and pattern category. My pattern design goes into these categories because the design has many lines. It contains the secondary colors on the color wheel such as green, purple, blue, and lighter colors in areas. It gets its name from the design. I enjoyed doing this project because I learned stuff in Adobe Illustrator like how to use the knife tool, how to use the pencil tool, how to do gradients, and how to reflect in different angles.

My Kite:

I think my kite belongs in the color, line, shape, and pattern category. I think this because it involves many different colors. It also has many different shapes such as the triangles in the kite and the kite itself. The triangles inside the kite are an example of pattern. Lastly, there are many types of lines such as diagonal lines, straight lines, and curved lines.

My Half Square Triangles:

My half square triangles are my second favorite projects because they're will thought out and take time to make them just right. This project belongs in the pattern, color, shape, and line categories. My half square triangles belong in all these different varieties of categories. There are many lines and shapes in this piece of artwork. It also involves a variety of colors. My pattern is repeated about nine times in this piece of artwork.

Still Life:

My still life is another one of my favorites. I like it because I got to learn how to make shapes revolve. I also learned about some different brush settings. My still life belongs in the line, shape, color, space and texture categories. I assume it belongs in these categories because it has lines in the backgrounds and as the stems. There are also different shapes because in the background there is a rectangle as the table, a triangle to show light coming in and a circular/ oval shape for the vase and the center of the flowers. My still life involves many different shades of colors, with the gradients and the flowers. I thought that this should go into space because I tried to make some space between the flowers and the leaves on the table. I also thought that this belongs in the texture category because stem of the flowers had a unique texture

Pipes and Wires:

This was one of my first projects this year. It was also one of the simplest. I think that my pipes and wires should belong in the space, texture, color, shape, and line because there are many lines and colors. You can see the texture in the objects because some of them have a glare. I tried to make them have the same space between each other. There are definitely shapes, mainly rectangles in the project because the legs of the stools (yes, I know that chair legs are neither a pipe or a wire) are rectangular.

Graph Pattern:

Honestly this project was one of the most fun projects that me and my class have done this year, from my point of view because we made cool designs with cutting the graph into different sections and painting them in different ways with the live paint bucket tool in Adobe Illustrator. This project obviously has color, pattern, and shape. Three of the most simplest categories, from my point of view of course. Like I said previously, we painted different sections with different colors. In one section I have a light green change into a dark shade of blue. In another section, I made a pattern that was fire-like. I really enjoyed this project because I learned how to use the knife and live paint bucket tools. This project is full of triangles and squares/ rectangles. I have about 8 different sections with different designs.

Inspiring Quote:

I chose a quote by Heath Ledger. The quote was, " Don't let anyone make you feel like you don't deserve what you want." I chose Heath Ledger because he was my best friend's favorite actor. This was one of my hardest projects, the other project was my concentric circles. It was hard because I had to worry about balance and space. Those were the hardest categories for this project. This was a typography project. I had to edit the text to look different, on the words don't and want, I emphasized them by changing their fonts and adding a shadow behind them. I also changed the color of them to two different shades of blue.

Concentric Circles:

I wasn't to crazy about this one on the computer because when I did it on paper it was much more easier. This one did take a lot of time. It had no color, it was in black and white, which somewhat made it easier. This belongs in two categories, line and shape. The name is kind of obvious for the shape. Circles. In between the circles are lines that connect the circles together.

Half Square Triangle 2:

This one wasn't planned out as the other. On this one I basically blobbed 3 shades of blue and the darkest black which is just black, all together on my original half square triangle. I thought this version looked really cool because it makes the eye moved throughout the colors and lines, which makes this piece of artwork belong in rhythm because if it were in movement, it wouldn't belong because it doesn't involve motion. There is no planned out pattern but it does involve line, shape, and color.

Half Square Triangle 3:

This is basically the same as the first one but just different colors. I chose warm colors like red, yellow, and orange for this one. It holds the same concept as the first one, patterns and colors, lines and shapes. Simple. The name is pretty explanatory for the shapes and I already stated the colors. The pattern is repeated at least nine times in this project, and there are many lines separating each half square triangle.

Monkey texture:

I saved one of my most hardworking projects for last because 1) I worked really hard on it, 2) it was time consuming and 3) it was in a different program that we don't use often for projects in this class, actually it's the first project we've done in this program. So, we used ArtRage for this project and we got to choose different animals and objects. This is one of my favorites because I like how the different shades of brown blended together to create something that looks like fur. I used about 10 different shades of brown. I tried to blend the white to make a glare in the eyes and to emphasize the mouth.
