Jackets/Sweatshirts

Students, when it gets cold, please make sure you have a jacket! You can find the jackets on sale in the main office for $30.00, and sweatshirts for $15.00. Students are required to wear the school uniform jackets and sweatshirts. Parents, if your child is seen wearing the wrong jacket or sweatshirt, he or she will be told to take it off. And if they are seen again with the wrong one, they will receive a mark on their AAA card.

 

Uniforms

Students are required to obey the dress code. If their pants/shorts have belt loops, then they must have on a black belt. Their pants/shorts must be khaki, with no jean material except on Jeans Day. Undershirts for elementary students must be either white or black, but for middle schooler's they can be black, white, or gray. They must wear tennis shoes; no sandals or boots. Elementary students' socks can be purple, gold, khaki, or white. Middle schoolers' socks can be black, white or gray.

What is Parent Portal?

The myPolkSchools.net Parent Portal is a new on-line service offered to parents and guardians in Polk County. The service will bring together into one single web page information about ALL of the students for a particular parent. Instead of visiting several different websites, making telephone calls or visiting the school to access records or information, the parent may access them all from any Internet-connected computer. The most important goal of the Parent Portal is to enhance district-to-school-to-home communication as outlined in the Polk County Schools Strategic Plan item 7(1): "Establish an effective system of communication linking district, school and home."

 

How Do I Regester ?

In order to access the Parent Portal you first must register. Please visit the portal and click the "Register" button. Follow the prompts and enter your information, once you’ve completed the form, click on "Create Account". If you are a Polk County School Board employee with a "@polk-fl.net" email address, you DO NOT need to register. Use your firstname.lastname username and corresponding password to login.

 

I've registered, now what?

Welcome to the Parent Portal. Now, you must attach yourself to each of your students. You should have received one P.I.N. per student from your student(s') school(s). This P.I.N. is unique to you and only you. Please DO NOT share this P.I.N. with anyone, including your spouse and children. You must follow the steps below for each student you wish to attach.

 

Click the "Add a Student" link as seen here.

Enter the Student ID including the 5300 and the corresponding P.I.N. number for the student you are attaching. Click "Attach Student" when you are finished.

Once you have clicked "Attach Student", the screen will reload, and information for that student will appear. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to attach additional students.

About School Nutrition

The Polk County School Nutrition program has a nationally recognized reputation for providing quality meals with a high percentage of participation. The District's more than 900 School Nutrition employees serve 4 million breakfasts, 10 million lunches, and 350,000 after school snacks annually. Included in these meals are traditional fare, specialty entrée salads, and quick bite meals. Cafeterias are operated at 103 sites, serving an additional 50+ satellite programs. In addition to these services, the School Nutrition department offers a summer feeding program, which provides nutritious meals to 100 sites as well as snacks to all FCAT summer reading camp participants.

 

Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test® 2.0 (FCAT)

The FCAT 2.0 (Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test® 2.0) measures student achievement of the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards. The transition from FCAT to FCAT 2.0 will be phased in, with 2011 FCAT 2.0 Reading and Mathematics being the first assessments to begin this transition. FCAT 2.0 Science will be administered to students for the first time in the spring of 2012.

 

The Library Research Resources are available to all Polk County Students; some require a username and password, which may be obtained from the school library media specialist. This area provides resources for all subject areas and grade levels.

Online Catalogs

These sites are for use by all students of Polk County schools. Some require a password. This may be obtained from your school library media specialist.
