Recycled Scarecrows

The Grow DSA School Garden would like to decorate our beautiful garden with scarecrows (recycled of course!). All classrooms are invited to create a unique scarecrow that can be displayed in our garden. The requirements are:
It must be constructed from recycled materials. Students can bring in used items from home.
The scarecrow must be weather resistant. Please do not use paper.
PTO will provide prizes for the best overall scarecrow in grades K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. There will also be a prize for the most creative and most beautiful scarecrow.
We encourage parents to visit the garden to see the display.
Scarecrows will need to be ready on October 17th.

Take a Step into the Garden

There is a new addition to our campus, the garden! The garden has many different fruits and vegetables. There are lettuce, tomatoes, beans, squash, and many other plants. It is almost effortless to keep the fruits and veggies fresh and healthy. There is an automatic watering system that provides water to the soil and keeps the garden green. There are solar panels outside that powers all the lights in the lunch room. Unused energy is stored in case of a power outage. D.S.A is now transforming into a conservative campus. A fundraiser is currently going on to save money to build an outdoor stage near the garden. To help save money for the stage, our school is selling butterfly houses for $20, made by the 2D Art students.

The Garden Logo Contest

For a fundraising campaign, the Graphic Arts majors were challenged to create a logo for our garden. Wyatt Turlington created the winning logo that was used on posters, flyers, and newspaper ads for the campaign. The poster that is seen below was used in bank lobbies across the country.
