GENERAL INFORMATION, CONTINUED

Pick up and Drop Off Procedures:

  • Students will be allowed on campus at 8:00 a.m. with staff supervision being provided throughout the school. Please do NOT drop off your student before this time unless previous arrangements have been made with a teacher.

  • Student Safety is the highest of priorities at Davenport School of the Arts. In an effort to ensure the safe arrival and departure of students, we have established some new procedures and guidelines. In years past we have had more of a “Family Style” pick up procedure, but with over 1200 students it is necessary to implement a dismissal procedure that is secure and consistent.

  • Due to the volume of parents picking up and the safety of students each day, it is necessary to revise our afternoon dismissal procedures. We need everyone’s cooperation to ensure a safe and secure arrival and dismissal. Please follow the instructions indicated here.

  • Parents will not be able to check out/pick up students between 3:00 and 3:30. Students who have been signed out prior to 3:00 must exit the campus through the front office.

Volunteers and Guests on Campus:

  • Parent volunteers are an essential component to the success of our school. Parents are encouraged to register as a parent volunteer with Polk County School Board in order to volunteer on campus or go on field trips.
  • Proper identification is required before entering campus.

Late Check Ins/Early Check Outs

and Absences:

  • Students should not be checked out of school early to prepare for performances, award ceremonies, or any activity associated with Davenport School of the Arts. Also, please keep in mind the Polk County School Board policy states that student must be in attendance for at least half of the day on the day of an event in order to participate in any after school activity.
  • If your child is absent, please turn in a doctor/parent note within three (3) business days. Refer to the Code of Conduct for information as to what will be an excused absence. All attendance notes need to be turned in to the homeroom teacher.
  • Instructional time is important for the academic success of your child. Please try to schedule appointments outside of the school day. If your student has an appointment during the school day, you will need to check them out by 3:00 p.m. There will NO check-outs after 3:00 p.m.
  • Any adult that you wish to have access to check out your child must be listed in the Parent Portal. The emergency card that you fill out at the beginning of the year is NOT used to update student information. It is only used for emergencies only.
  • We cannot call students out of academic classes for any reason other than to be checked out of school. When parents bring in homework or forgotten items they will be placed in the teacher's mailboxes. Forgotten lunches will be delivered, before your child's lunch time.
