What's Going on with Fifth Grade?
Students in fifth grade are bracing themselves. For what you might ask? They're preparing for Middle School! And although they are spending time getting ready for sixth grade by learning about new schedules and how to select an Arts major, they still focus on fifth grade assignments, like in Mrs. Wilmoth's gifted class.They are currently studying the organs of the body, by dissecting frogs! Some of the kids were a little squeamish, but many were fearless! Below are some of the students' reactions to dissecting the frogs.

Meet our Fifth Grade Teachers!
Mitzi Herring has been teaching at DSA for 7 years and for a total of 14 years. She is originally from Florida and has a Master’s degree in Special Education. Her class is currently learning about the Laws of Motion. At home she wants her students to be working on their multiplication tables, spelling words, vocabulary lists, and reading every night. |

Shannon McNulty is from Brooklyn, New York and has been teaching at DSA for 15 years. She graduated from Iona College with a Bachelors Degree. Her class is studying forces in science and made catapults that they challenged each other with regarding distance and accuracy. |

Tracy Strouse is from Haines City, Florida and has been teaching at DSA for 6 years and for a total of 15. She graduated with a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. Currently her class is reenacting historical events in American history. Doing this brings history alive and everything becomes more interesting |

Stacy Coogler has been teaching at DSA for 6 ½ years. She is originally from Tallahassee, Florida. She graduated with a B.S. Degree from U.S.F. Currently her class is learning about motion with Mr. Rivero, the eighth grade science teacher. At home she wants her students to independently read books of their choice to boost their A.R. scores. |
